What Next for Kenya?
The BBC’s former East Africa Correspondent examines the causes of the conflict that erupted in Kenya at the start of this year. The fighting left a half-million people refugees in their own country, which had previously been one of the most stable nations in Africa. More than a thousand people were killed. Mike Wooldridge asks what it will take for Kenya to recover.

FIRST HALF

Disputed results of general elections late last December triggered the conflict. But tribalism and land ownership issues were also key factors. Mike Wooldridge speaks to those who were involved in the fighting and asks what propelled them to turn against their friends. He also looks at tribalism from a generational point of view and asks if young Kenyans care about their ancestral history.
Second Half

Before the violence erupted, Kenya had just had a record year for tourism. Now, bookings have plummeted. Mike Wooldridge examines the impact the conflict is having on Kenya’s economy, and looks at whether, and how, life in Kenya can get back to normal.
