The first decade of this century was marked by swift change, almost as if we were on fast forward. The BBC’s Edward Stourton reflects on some of the themes that characterized the past decade, and on how these themes may play out in this decade.  
FIRST HALF




Google has become a verb. The information superhighway, as we used to call it, can feel like information gridlock. In this documentary produced for the BBC World Service, Edward Stourton reflects on the astonishing growth of the Internet in the last ten years.

SECOND HALF






September 11th, 2001, catapulted the U.S. on a new trajectory. The decade was capped by the attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound airliner on Christmas Day. The BBC’s Edward Stourton examines impact of terrorism in the last decade. He also probes the rise of a new world power: China.
